Exploring Time and Memory at the "Time Trap" MFA Exhibition Opening

Photos by Natalie Tulloch

On opening night, the "Time Trap” exhibition in the Visual Arts building drew in a crowd of artists and viewers, eager to explore the nature of time and its impact on their lives.

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program in the School of Art+Design composed an exhibition to invite viewers to reflect on how time influences everything, from personal memories to the structure of society.

The opening reception was held on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Richard and Dolly Maass Gallery. All of the works of art are presented with no exhibition labels so viewers can “grow their own interpretation visually.”

Featuring diverse forms of art—sculpture, painting, and more—“Time Trap” aims to create a place for reflection and imagination, giving viewers a moment to consider new perspectives. According to the event's campus-wide email, the show explores “spaces we inhabit, the memories we carry, faith and ritual, and the connective tissue of ourselves, bodies, and society.”
