JUDAS SAVES

Here's a quick look at the Friday the 13th show held at Whitson's earlier this month.

By Eri Espinal

Earlier this month, Purchase musician Calypso headlined Judas Saves, a Friday the 13th themed Whitson's show, with supporting musicians Juno, Brady Dorrington, and Folkstar. The night was filled with shoe gaze, alt rock, indie, and acoustic music; with each band highlighting their own unique style.

"It was a really fun show that we threw together pretty quick," exlpained Calypso. "When I saw there wasn't anything happening in Whitson's on Friday the 13th I was like 'what a waste,' so I gathered my band and we put together a setlist of songs we've played a bunch before.

The show opened with Folkstar. A great start for the crowd who swayed along to their shoe gaze adjacent sound. Calypso agrees.

"Folkstar is such a great opener," they said, "the banter they do during the breaks, and sometimes during the songs, just make the space really fun."

Brady Dorrington:

Brady Dorrington picked up the pace and helped ruffle the crowd up with their upbeat and energetic sound.

"It's been so great to be back at Purchase playing shows with friends this year and I was really happy with how the show went," said Dorrington.

Juno:

Then Juno chimed in after and played a solo set, where their acoustic guitar and their lyrics were the main star of their performance.

And of course, Calypso ended the show with a boom with their experimental and unique sound; giving those who attended what they were expecting: a night filled with chaotic, yet fun and energetic vibes.

Just like they put it, "overall super fun, super chill, and very loud."
