Panthers Mens Soccer Team Lose In Frustrating Game Against Baruch College

Updated: Sep 16

The Panthers Men's Soccer team faced off against the Baruch Bearcats, in which they went scoreless in a 1-0 game.

The Panthers would only get two shots on goal, as in the first half, they would go back and forth versus Baruch. Baruch fouled consistently, but the Panthers were unable to take advantage of the fouls.

In the 16th minute, the Panthers turned the ball over in their own territory, which led to some miscommunication between the team, resulting in the Bearcat's only goal of the game.

In the second half, the Panthers would take more shots and secure late corners, but would struggle to get some shots on goal.

"We just didn't play our style of play," said Coach Bruno Ferreira. "We didn't circulate the ball, we couldn't create chances to score, we couldn't do a lot of things, and it was very frustrating."

While players on the team talked about how the game plan fell flat, "They made the game way too chaotic," said Luca Ramirez, a freshman psychology major, "We didn't do our jobs, our game plan was to play on the floor, play through them, it got hectic. They did do a lot of stop and starting, but it's our job to kind of get through that."

Fouling was a big problem, especially in the second half, as the Panthers committed 10 fouls in the second half and 17 combined. "We fouled too much," said Ramirez. "There was bad decision making, and as you know, we fell asleep on the corners."

"We played very good, the other team was very rough with our guys," is what Spiros Argyros, a fan at the game, said of what he saw from the team. "Need a little work on defense, a little work on set-plays. Next game will be better."
