The Pre-Med Club gives students opportunities in the medical field, such as matching students with mentors at Broadview and having students shadowing at the White Plains Hospital.

Pre-Med Club President Daniel Munoz enjoys being an active member of the club and feels it’s easier to get to know people since there are a lot of commuters. Munoz aims to improve the club with connections beyond pre-med and interests outside health or medicine.
The Pre-Med Club held a Boba Tea Fundraiser on Sept. 26 to boost interest and engagement within the club.

The Vice President of Pre-Med Club, Zara Burney, was encouraged by the turnout at the fundraiser. “It was good to see that many people showed up,” said Burney.
Burney explained how last year, only the core members would show up to the meetings and sometimes they would get new members, but this year’s fundraiser was a lot more successful than last year.
“It’s always nice to see more pre-med people at Purchase,” said Burney.
Another student at the fundraiser, Adrian Pereira-Jackson, also spoke about his feelings on the fundraiser. “I liked it,” he said. “I thought it was quite useful.”
Pereira-Jackson also spoke about his interest in the pre-med club and his interest in the medical field. “My career goal is to go into psychiatry, so I have to do my four years here [at Purchase] and apply for med school. I was interested in joining this club to get my foot in the ballpark.”

Munoz said to students interested in the medical field, “Take it slow, it’s going to be a long process regardless, do it at your own pace, and try to find people that are on the same track as you.”
“It’s difficult, but always make sure to put in your best effort and reach out to people if need be,” Burney said.
