The PSGA Pillow Fights On

The Purchase Student Government Association (PSGA) held a pillow fight on The Great Lawn for students to have fun and let out their frustrations. The event took place on Oct. 4, after being cancelled the week prior due to the pillowcases not arriving on time.

Though the event was called a pillow fight there were no actual pillows at the event. In order to be environmentally friendly, Sedajah Lance-Stewart, the coordinator of public affairs and relations, decided to go around campus and ask professors to donate papers they were no longer using. The paper was then shredded down and used to fill the pillowcases for the event.

The event began at 3 p.m. but faced low attendance for the first half hour. In order to help bring attention, the PSGA decided to bring out their new mascot costume for Rosco the Raccoon.

However, even with Rosco, there were few people stopping and joining the pillow fight. They decided to try a few other methods to get people to join. The method they used that ended up being the most successful at attracting students was bringing out their shaved ice machine.

Over 30 students stopped by the event to either participate in the pillow fight or grab a snow cone while they had the chance. “We have many more fun events planned for the rest of the year and we hope students are able to come and enjoy them,” said Lance-Stewart.

After attendance at the event picked up, an intense battle began between multiple students.

Lizette Padua picked out a snow cone flavor as a way to cool down after she was done with the pillow fight.

Neena Govea threatened to hit the photographer with a pillow because she felt it was unfair he wasn’t getting hit.

Sedajah Lance-Stewart activated her spin move in order to distance herself from the other pillow fighters.
