Panthers Weekday Forecast 10/23-10/29

Updated: Oct 28, 2023

From autumn classics to summer reminders, this week has a bit of every season inside of it. With the New York National Weather Service issuing frost advisories for much of the Hudson Valley and as far south as North Carolina, we will have our first sneak peek at winter like temperatures on Monday Night. Later in the week, we can expect a summery blast from the past. Will we break our eight-weekend stretch of wet weather?

MONDAY

OCTOBER 23, 2023

WHAT TO EXPECT: BRISK & BREEZY

Monday will be another day with mostly clear skies and seasonable temperatures. While it may look nice outside your window, there will be a gusty breeze making it feel cooler than what the thermometer may read, especially in the shaded areas. There can be gusts between 10-15 mph at times.

So, for any outdoor night sporting events either on the Purchase Campus or in the nearby area, it may be the ideal opportunity to bring out the jacket and hat combination to stay warm during any outdoor activities.

TUESDAY

OCTOBER 24, 2023

WHAT TO EXPECT: AUTUMN SPECTACULAR | HIGH: 64°F/ LOW: 48°F

From Starbucks to the Hub, and to the Great Lawn that rests in between, it will be a beautiful place to get work done, grab a bite or even take a walk. There will be abundant sunshine for all to share. This will be one of several days with temperatures at or above the seasonal average. Be sure to grab a jacket as you head out the door for your daily activities.

SUNY Purchase Women’s Soccer Team and any other local outdoor events and activities, will have great weather to play in as they take on St. Joseph’s University-Long Island at 7 p.m. It may feel a little chilly out so you may want a light jacket as you watch the match.

WEDNESDAY

OCTOBER 25, 2023

WHAT TO EXPECT: FALL CLASSIC | HIGH: 69°F/ LOW: 54°F

With a mix of sun and clouds, Wednesday will be another beautiful day on the Purchase Campus and the rest of the region. Temperatures will climb into the upper 60s and low 70s, making it an ideal day to go out for a jog around the loop or to watch the SUNY Purchase Men’s Soccer Team take on Yeshiva University at 8 p.m.

THURSDAY

OCTOBER 26, 2023

WHAT TO EXPECT: WARMER BLEND | HIGH: 74°F/ LOW: 58°F

While temperatures continue to rise into the mid 70s, it will remain quite pleasant outside. So, with partly sunny skies and calm winds, it will be a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors, take a breath of fresh air or grab a blanket, get a snack, and lay out on the Great Lawn to decompress and relax.

FRIDAY

OCTOBER 27, 2023

WHAT TO EXPECT: SUNNY & MILD | HIGH: 76°F/ LOW: 59°F

Finally, a Friday without the threat of rain. Temperatures will remain 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year. Warmer than average temperatures paired with sun-filled skies, will give a summertime feel. This will be yet again another opportunity to soak in the natural sunlight before we head into the next week. So, get outdoors, go for a jog, play some soccer, practice some tennis, or grab a blanket and just lay outside.

With milder evening temperatures, it will be comfortable for those attending the “Hocus Pocus” movie night on the Great Lawn starting at 8 p.m. Make sure to enjoy the warmth, while it lasts.

From Saturday having summer-like temperatures and making feeling like a beach day, to a cooler breeze and rain on both Sunday & Monday, this weekend has it all. The warm temperatures will come to an end, and fall will finally make its return.

SATURDAY

OCTOBER 28, 2023

WHAT TO EXPECT: SLICE OF SUMMER| HIGH: 79°F/ LOW: 50°F

Woah it's hot... for this time of year. With highs reaching the upper 70s and low 80s in some locations, it will feel more like the end of June than the end of October. Unlike the last few days before it will feel a bit muggier outside, as the humidity level increases.

While there may not be any on-campus sporting events on Saturday, it will be a wonderful opportunity to get outside and practice some forehands on the tennis court, shoot a few shots on the basketball court, take a jog around the loop, or grab a few friends and walk along a local boardwalk or pier.

This may be your last opportunity to pull out the shorts and a t-shirt before fall-like temperatures return.

SUNDAY

OCTOBER 29, 2023

WHAT TO EXPECT: RAIN RETURNS| HIGH: 58°F/ LOW: 55°F

If it’s the weekend, there must be a little rain. On Sunday, a cold front will move through the area bringing rain and cooler than average temperatures to our area. Rain will begin during the morning and come in waves throughout the day. It will not be a complete washout, however, it will not be a day you want to spend outdoors, unless you like dancing in

the rain. This early week rain maker will not produce flash flooding like conditions. However, it will be enough for you to grab your umbrella and rain boots as you head out on Sunday.

In addition to rain associated with this front, expect temperatures to fall back to reality with highs barely reaching 60 degrees in many locations. Temperatures will struggle to moderate throughout the day. So, as you head out for a bite to eat, be sure to grab your jacket to keep warm.
